They are still coming .... to see Jeanne Abdullah

Contrary to my belief, the hits are still coming in!! :) hehe

I wanted to enhance the hits on the page by posting up the Video clip where our dear PM A Badawi was on TV declaring his marriage to Jeanne Abdullah. Alas, I couldnt find in on YouTube, though i saw it playing on a website. [Errr... if u find it share it!!]

I just thot this will be a good follow up to yesterday's post. When I drill down using StatCounter, the TOP POST was still "Jeanne Abdullah's Photo ~ Pak Lah's Bride!! "

And this time when I checked where did they come from? It was the Yahoo Search Engine sending them over to delephant! How Cool is that. Ranked Second in the Yahoo Search!!

Hmmmm ...... i wonder how DAY 3 would be? Let's tune back to delephant tomorrow nite!

Yahoo Liam Meets Godzilla - AGAIN

This is amazing!! If you read my previous post on Liam Meeting Godzilla, you will realize that YAHOO is using two different gif Animation to make Liam Bounce, and for Godzilla's foot to stomp on him.

BUT thanks to Fred, who managed to joined both the gif animations together, causing the entire animation to be in one fluid motion.

Check it out below ...

Yahoo Liam Meets Godzilla - this is Hillarious!!

FOUND IT!!!! :) This is rather cute. The bouncing Liam meets Godzilla!

Unfortunately its two different Animations (GIFs) that Yahoo uses, First you have Liam Bouncing away on his Bouncing Ball, then comes Godzilla foot and flattens poort Liam.

Wished they combined it into one Liam Animation.

Yahoo to shut down Yahoo Photos service, promote Flickr

Better move all your Photos out of your Yahoo Photo Albums, cos Yahoo is shutting down their Yahoo Photo services and moving all users to FLICKR ..... read on.

Yahoo Inc. is shutting down Yahoo Photos, an online photo storage site, and asking users to move instead to its Web 2.0 photo sharing site, Flickr, a Yahoo official said.

In June, tens of millions of registered users of Yahoo Photos will be notified of various options including upgrading to Yahoo's Flickr service or various outside-photo storage sites, according to Flickr co-founder Stewart Butterfield.

Yahoo also will offer consumers the option of loading their photos on competing sites when users are notified next month.

Outside sites include PhotoBucket -- the most popular online photo sharing service among users of social network sites like News Corp.'s MySpace -- or more conventional photo printing and storage site such as Kodak Gallery, Shutterfly Inc. or Snapfish, he said.

"Flickr will get top-billing, of course," Butterfield said in an interview late on Thursday about the plan to give users multiple alternatives.

Butterfield and co-founder Caterina Fake, his wife, sold Flickr to Yahoo in 2005. Butterfield is now a director of product management at Yahoo.

Later, Jeff Weiner, executive vice president of Yahoo's Network Division, said in a company statement: "We are making great strides in our ongoing efforts to align Yahoo!'s resources and focus on core strategic priorities."

"Part of this progress is today's decision to close Yahoo! Photos to better serve our valued customers through Flickr."

Yahoo's move follows the explosive surge in growth by PhotoBucket, an independent photo storage site based in Palo Alto, California, from a quarter of the market a year ago to around 40 percent last month, according to Hitwise Inc. data.

In the same period, Yahoo Photos' share has been cut two- to three times over to around 5.8 percent of the U.S. market. Flickr, meanwhile, has grown to 4.5 percent, up from 3.7 percent, according to Hitwise U.S. Web audience data.

Yahoo continued to support both Photos and Flickr over the past two years, reflecting the different audiences of the two sites.

Yahoo Photos is a more conventional photo-finishing site, full of family snapshots, while Flickr has attracted a passionate fan base of amateur and professional photographers who use the site to share digital photos online, and for whom printing is largely an afterthought.

According to data from comScore supplied by Yahoo a year ago, Yahoo Photos counted 30 million registered users, who had uploaded 2 billion photos as of June 2006.

By contrast, PhotoBucket rose to 32 million users in 2006 from 12 million users in 2005. It is set to grow to around 62 million users by the end of 2007, PhotoBucket Chief Executive and co-founder Alex Welch said in a recent interview.

YAHOO!! ... Yahoo's Email is giving Unlimited Storage

Now this is why I LOVE YAHOO Email! Have been using it for years! Have not let me down. Love the Yahoo Mail Beta, love the LIAMS that come with it!! What else can I say ... its now UNLIMITED Storage! Way to go YAHOO MAIL .. Way to GO!!

Yahoo announced Tuesday it was giving users of its web-based e-mail service unlimited storage capacity as a tribute to Yahoo Mail's 10th birthday and today's data-rich Internet lifestyle.

In a phased roll-out beginning in May, Yahoo will eliminate the one-gigabyte cap on memory for people with free e-mail accounts and two-gigabyte cap of memory for those who pay for premium accounts.

"We are viewing this as a gift to our users worldwide in recognition of what they have done for us and in recognition of what they are doing now on the Internet," Yahoo Mail vice president John Kremer told AFP.

"We see people increasingly sending more photos -- richer media formats in all different types -- really driving the amount of storage up beyond the levels they were a year ago."

Internet search titan Yahoo, based in Sunnyvale, California, bought web-based e-mail service Rocketmail and it had four megabytes of storage when it was relaunched as Yahoo Mail in October of 1997.

Four megabytes of memory would likely not be sufficient to hold a set of pictures taken during the course of a festive weekend by someone with a typical digital camera.

Apple introduced last year an 80-gigabyte iPod capable of storing as much as 100 hours of video.

"I remember getting in a room to plan our Rocketmail launch over a decade ago and worrying that our original plan of a two MB quota wasn't enough, and that we needed to be radical and double the storage to four MB per account," said lead Rocketmail developer David Nakayama, who now works at Yahoo.

"It's ironic that I routinely send and receive individual mail attachments bigger than that now."

Yahoo Mail is the most popular web-based e-mail service and had more than 250 million users as of January, according to industry-tracking comScore Media Metrix.

The elimination of the storage cap comes at a time when costs of computer storage are declining and in the face of a relentless trend for people to exchange video, music and other data-laden digital files online.

"We think people want to continue to be able to share their lives with friends, families, and communities," Kremer said.

"They want to be able to send and store as much of their photos and attachments as possible and not manage the storage. The right step is to take the worry out of it and give them unlimited storage."

Yahoo said its "e-mail server farms" around the globe were equipped to handle the storage load and the company will invest in improved capacity where necessary.

"Yahoo Mail is so important to Yahoo as a company that we are willing to make that investment," Kremer said. "It is important to show we are listening to our customers' needs."

The limitless storage is not meant to be used by people to back-up computer software by copying system contents onto Yahoo servers.

"It was intended for normal e-mail practices," Kremer said. "Our engineers built the technologies to understand what types of files are being sent and where."

The Top 10 American Idol Reject

Guess what are the TOP YAHOO Searches for American Idol 6?

You are right .. those who were REJECTED.

Read on . . .

The Joys of Audition

The Joys of Audition

Counter-programming is an age-old and brilliant concept. For example, the utter genius of pitting the Puppy Bowl against the Super Bowl.

The audition episodes of "American Idol" offer their own twist on counter-programming. They pair up the feel-good, diamond-in-the-rough stories along with an ongoing traveling freak show. Searchers pondered "american idol cruel," "american idol mean," and "american idol gone too far," but many more avidly sought out "american idol losers," "american idol bad auditions," and "american idol worst."

The next few weeks will focus on contenders, some who have already made an impression on the Buzz, such as Jordin Sparks (Seattle audition), Sean Michel (NY), Matt Sato (Minneapolis), Jason Sundance Head (Memphis), Chris Sligh (Birmingham), Brandon Rogers (LA), and Baylie Brown (San Antonio).

But, as William Hung has shown, saying good-bye to the bright lights of "Idol" doesn't mean you'll be forgotten forever. He's the indisputable best of the worst and continues to linger in the top 10 "Idol" alumni searches. In that vein, we offer up our Buzz countdown of the people—and animal acts—who could be the next hot "Idol" Reject...

The Top 10 American Idol Reject

  1. Big Red—The enormous and menacing redhead with the fiery shirt did a scary version of "Bohemian Rhapsody."

  2. The Hotness—The nickname of Jennifer Chapton, who wouldn't stop singing, then gave off some mighty heat when Simon gave her the thumbs down.

  3. American Idol Darwin—Darwin "Misha" Reedy gave a new meaning to evolution when the oddly proportioned blonde showed up with her mom, and then sang "Don't Cha." To which the judges said, um, we don't.

  4. Nick Zitzmann—The software engineer from Utah snagged significant airtime for being stiff as a board, and his "Unchained Melody" didn't do the Righteous Brothers right.

  5. American Idol Big Bird—Simon likened the Atlanta woman to the Easter Bunny, but the searchers saw her yellow get-up as "Sesame Street" material.

  6. Ian Benardo—The flamboyant New Yorker recited a version of "Gloria," then told Simon to go back whence he came.

  7. American Idol Cowardly Lion—Trista Giese's homage to Bert Lahr inspired searches for video of "american idol lion girl," "american idol king of the forest," and "trista's lion roar on american idol."

  8. American Idol Panther—Martik Manoukian called himself "eccentric," an understatement considering his snarling performance.

  9. Kenneth Briggs—Also known as "American Idol Bush Baby." Simon callously compared him to a jungle monkey creature with big eyes, prompting zoological inspired spikes on "bush babies" and "lemurs."

  10. Sherman Pore—Also known as "american idol 64 year old," "american idol old man," and "sherman american idol." The man who rose to the top was this sweet gent from the L.A. audition. He petitioned to skirt the age limit to cheer his lady love, who died of cancer before the auditions. Searches spiked for his serenade of "You Belong to Me."

Yahoo Pipes .. this is New & Way Cool!

People using Yahoo Pipes will be able to mix and mashup data sources from all kinds of places on the Internet into combined feeds they can share with others.

The latest service from Yahoo makes mashing up RSS feeds from lots of sources
into single powerful feeds much easier thanks to its drag and drop interface.
It's a tool that hardcore information junkies will love.

As a new effort, Yahoo Pipes will appeal to the more technologically comfortable people at first. The ability to combine information in a relatively easy fashion should quickly broaden the appeal of Pipes.

Yahoo calls Pipes "a hosted service that lets you remix feeds and create new data mashups in a visual programming environment." Fans of Unix and Linux who understand just how useful the pipe function can be in those operating systems will understand why Yahoo chose the name.

At its core, Pipes allows for mashups of RSS feeds. Those feeds can come from blogs and websites, along with plenty of other resources that allow people to create a feed based on a query, like a search at eBay that returns a list of auctions for Chicago Bears apparel.
The real utility for Pipes will come when someone creates a Pipe of such usefulness that others will pick up on it and tweak it for their use. Pipes can be cloned and shared, and we expect those features will bring in more users as really great Pipes are created. We'll be interested in seeing how our readers in the search and e-business communities put Pipes to use.
