Do I choose a HTC P3600i or iPod Touch?

Its coming to the close of the year, and this is the time each year when we have to make really really tough decisions in life! (or so to speak!)

I've been really blest in my company, cos each year the Management would sorta reward all of us with a cool year end present.

This year we had to make One decision out of four gift choices.

Out of the Four, i narrowed it down to either a phone or a music player.

SO what shall it be????

The HTC P3600i : HTC Website

Now the phone looks really cool! Though i always wondered why when HTC took over Dopod, why didn't they retain the name as Dopod? Cos Dopod sounds really much better than HTC. (HTC looks like some chinese dude's initial!! U know like YTL, ESH ... etc)

Anyway ... the engine that's running beneath the skin (of HTC) is still Dopod, so i guess its not really a concern. Unless HTC really increases their A&P expenditure and do more re-branding and re-positioning, then perhaps more people would start "liking" to be associate with a "HTC" phone.

Names aside, I've been using my Sony Ericsson K750i (i love Sony E!!!) but lately it has been giving me lots and lots of problem. The joystick is basically condemn. I cant go up, cant go down... and its so irritating when i am typing an sms and when i want to choose one of the other words that the T9 is suggesting!! sigh!!

So ... the phone is a really strong strong contender!! :) Oh yeah .. the other cool point about HTC P3600i is the fact that it has an inbuilt GPS!! Yeah... that's pretty cooool! :)

I love music .. as u can see from my worship blog. And i've always wanted to have a Music player where i can store all my fav CDs and songs. And Christmas is just around the corner and there are so many many many many coool Christmas CDs to play!!!

Aiyoh .... i know that the iPod Touch is only 16MB in size ... (very few CDs can be put in) .. but the overall look and fell of the player is really way coool! The interface to run and play the songs will be cool, i can carry all my fav songs with me wherever i go and play it on the fly ..........

SO HOW????

That's the dilema I'm in ..... shud i go for the phone or the ipod?

What say u? Help me!

go for the PDA phone man... it's more practical. plus, your current phone is giving out on you, so it should be a good timing to change...

go read about Fat4's post about his new HTC P3600i... I'm actually tempted to get one for myself as well... arghhh!! and sommore you can get it for free...

lol...i think you mean the ipod touch is 16GB, right? (not 16MB? i don't think anything is 16MB anymore. ;) ) anyway, 16GB plus the video capability is a strong case for the ipod, i think.

however, i personally object to ipods because they lock your music to itunes and have drm that makes it hard to get your mp3s to play on other mp3 players after that. :(

otoh, be warned that if you intend to use the GPS on the phone, you need to install and sync the maps yourself, and i don't know how good those are for msia. also, windows mobile sucks.

if i were you, i'd get whichever one was more expensive and auction it off. hahahaha!

Dear Dreckker

Yeah..i think that's gonna be my biggest sway.. the phone!! (Sigh but i've always wanted an iPod).

Dear Ruach
I was told that maps can be "found" and can be easily installed. But not that i've found any yet! :) hehe

hey there,

Good thing i came across this post. If i were you, ill get the HTC and sel it off (or get the one that is more expensive as said by ruach). I personally wouldn't use any devide that runs on WM6 (Windows Mobile 6.0, the latest version). I was working for microsoft for awhile ad i did this survey on the All New Windows Mobile 6.0 that runs on the latest PDA Phones. 90% of the resellers around the klang valley from subang to puchong to kl (Low Yat, Sungei Wang & Imbi) complaint to me that the contacts fro the sim card CANNOT e coppied into the hone and vise versa. Also, you CANNOT SELECT ALL. There is no such thing as select all and delete. You have to delete ONE BY ONE. So imagine, it'll drive you crazy. No doubt it is very much faster and more stable in running application. If you are looking for a personal digital assistance device, i would recomend you a Palm. It runs on its own OS and it is more stable and user friendly. Ofcourse you don't get those colourful and funky outlook la.

The other thing you can do is buy your self a new phone, get the N73 Music Edition (No regrets, iIm using it my self) that cost somewhere aroung RM1300 plus minus coz I'm not sure of the price now. And get the Ipod, the Ipod is so so so cool.

Just my 2 cents, really hope you don't use the HTC for your self if u get it ;')

Wow BEN ... Now i am confused!! I am an avid Palm user and i was preparing for a major change of interface from Palm to Windows Mobile!!

Sigh.. now i am confused!!! How ler? Is Windows Mobile really that BAD????

benben said...

hahaha yeaps it is that bad... i wanted to change to WM also but i didn't. The best part is, if you use the device until the max, batt flat out (know sometimes u just rally need to refer to something or write dwn something at the very last bit of batt left) until the device turns off, heehehe, ALL ur stuff in there are all gone!!! including all the extra application. what will be left is ur OS and the origial appication. However, the Palmon the other hand always saves a little batt to back up ur stuff. You will be sure u still have ur stuff in Palm even though you use ur pda until the max, but with WM, you can start throwing it out the window ;')

it is that bad. I used a WM PDA before, i sold it off after a month, ot s frustrated. Was using a toshiba Pda

Oh no... that sounds really bad!! If Windows Mobile is so bad, i wonder why are so many new PDA phones going with WM as the OS.

Sigh... anyone wanna buy a brand new HTC Phone???
